Libarary rules and fees

The Kalajoki City Library is part of the Joki libraries, which have shared rules and regulations. Compensation practices for unreturned and damaged materials vary by municipality.

Compensation for Unreturned items at Kalajoki City Library

When you borrow items from the library, you agree to return them by the due date. Please renew your loans if necessary.

For overdue materials, three reminders will be sent, after which we will issue an invoice. When you receive the invoice, please pay it by the due date. The invoice will not be credited even if you return the item. Once you have paid the invoice, you may keep the item.

Please note that unpaid invoices will be sent to debt collection.

Make sure your customer information is up to date so that reminders reach you.

A loan can be renewed up to five times, provided the item is not reserved. Renewal is possible:

  • by phone, text message, or email
  • in the Joki online library (you will need the PIN code linked to your library card, which you can obtain from the library’s customer service)

Invoices under 20 € can be settled by paying at the library’s customer service or by returning the material as instructed in the invoice.

Replacement for Damaged Materials

Please inform us upon return if the item is damaged. Damaged items must be replaced or paid for. Damage means the material can no longer be lent out.

You can replace the item by providing the library with an equivalent material or by paying the replacement price at the library’s customer service. Movies cannot be replaced with equivalent recordings due to copyright reasons; these must be compensated based on the library’s purchase price.

No invoice will be sent for damaged materials; instead, the replacement cost will be added to the customer’s fees.
